Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, #1, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: vaughti orange

Parking lots were buzzing even at 3:00 on this New Year's weekend. Since the last grooming a few days ago, we have had at least 8 cm of snow. However there was no grooming of either the parkways or trails. The skating seemed fairly fast although the snow was quite soft, bumpy and churned. The classic tracks were inexcusable. All in all the parkways and Ridge Road looked pretty much as they would look if they had been skied in by a great number of skiers (which they had been). The skiing was fun, there was terrific snow coverage and the scenery was just spectacular, with the whitest trees I can recall ever seeing.
At 4:00 a groomer came by, and did a beautiful job on the Fortune Parkway, the short 2.5 k stretch to the Lookout, and presumably the Doldrums. (No work was done on the rest of the parkway network or on Ridge.)

Happy New Year to everyone!

Gatineau Park is ski paradise! The network of ski trails offer machine groomed skate skiing and classic skiing as well as little groomed backcountry trails. Multiple access points allow skiers to access a variety of terrain and scenery. The NCC offers season or daily pay rates.
