Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #1 Penguin Climb, #1, #6, #4, #14, #19, #34, Glide Wax: blue, Grip Wax: vauthi carrot

Skied from P5 up Penguin and then looped around some of the smaller trails checking out the conditions. Beautiful powder day although the base is still a little thin and a few roots and rocks lie in wait for the unwary. Bigger hazard is perhaps the overhanging branches still laden with last weeks freezing rain. Requires a little ducking and dodging here and there but for the most part still manageable. Skied across one pond that had a little slushy layer but was otherwise fine to cross. One big downed tree on trail 19 that needs a trailcrews saw or a foot more snow. All in all the backcountry trails are skiable with some care... but a little more snow wouldn't hurt.
