We tested skis this morning at P5. Conditions for skate skiing were pretty good - fast, but not too icy as the groomers managed to crush most of recently formed ice. They focused on the classic tracks for the loppet, so the surface wasn't entirely smooth, but should be in great shape by tomorrow after they work on it a bit more. Classic tracks looked good but were extremely slow since they had a layer of dry, windblown snow in them - so most classic racers opted for skiing outside the tracks on the faster section of parkway.
Gatineau Park is ski paradise! The network of ski trails offer machine groomed skate skiing and classic skiing as well as little groomed backcountry trails. Multiple access points allow skiers to access a variety of terrain and scenery.
