Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #1B, #1 (green) (#2 - #24), #2 (from #40 to #1), #24, #40, #18, #20, Glide Wax: waxless, Grip Wax: waxless

Started off from P12 again today, although this parking lot wasn't recommended. there was still no grooming on trail # 40 was much better then yesterday with all the skiers that went through. Then branched off on # 24 no grooming either but nice, then a left on ridge road towards western which was ok.

Then on trail 1B which had been groomed (sort of) as you can see on one of the pics, no tracks. After i got back on ridge decided to check out the narrower trail like #9 which had a tricky first descent, then once I reached # 3 turned right, Burma had a single track right down the middle, but was pleasant.

Then took a right on # 20 which had a few obstacles on it (fallen branches). Then on # 21 for a short while, were I ended up doing the splits avoiding a big rock on a descent. After getting up I arrived at trail # 18 right back to the bench at ridge and western intersection.

The final run was back down on # 2, which had many footprints on it, but luckily there was still lots of loose snow going down, so it was manageable . This trail seems to have a lot of hikers who use it, which is too bad considering we already lost trail # 16 to snowshoers. I have noticed over the years that P12 seems to attract all kinds ( skiers, snowshoeing, hikers) probably because of the remote location of the park and lack of parking lot attendant there.

Thanks Charles for your report on #8 , # 17 we dont get much information from those trails. I guess rock skis are best advised there until we get more snow. All in all a good ski day.
