Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy, #5 (green), #26, Glide Wax: Swix CH7, Grip Wax:

We skied from P3 up the Parkway to Trail 5. The snow coverage is excellent. A few people were asking if they could use their good skis and the answer is yes. The trail between 5 and the Gatineau Parkway (trail 26) is also in good shape with no need for rock skis. Trail 5 is usually good early season because the underlying surface is smooth pavement, so no rocks and roots that protrude through the snow. The big hill on 5 (Gat-zilla) had a few places where the snow is washed out, but nothing that is not manageable. Going up that thing several times for the first time this season was a nice shock...no amount of cycling, running and roller skiing quite simulates going up the steeper hills! Enjoy the great conditions in Decemeber in the warmth before the first cold snap turns all the snow to styrofoam. The parkway from the top of Pinks Lake to P3 was also in great shape.
