Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy, #5 (green), #27, #26, Glide Wax: Vauhti Blue, Grip Wax: Vauhti Carrot

I did a little reconnaisance of the Gloppet. I skied the lower section around Skinouk, the stadium and the first 12km. Everything is generally in good shape. The parkway was freshly groomed, for skating, and was quite fast.

Trail #5 hadn't been groomed today, and it was hard in middle and a bit slow, but there was lots of snow to work with so easily groomable. The more critical sections: the corner of the Parkway onto #5 and that little turny downhill were in good shape. The downhill on #26 (off #5 into the stadium) was in great shape, as it hadn't been groomed lately it was quite soft. There was a bit of ice right at the bottom, but that would only require a small amount of snow to fix. The section to the bottom of #15 was nice.

The start area had the usual brown trucked in snow being spread out. It wasn't flat yet, but there was lots of snow for the entire field loop. There are a couple of ice flows, but again these would only require a few shovels of snow and a little elbow grease.

The section from 1km to the parkway is a skating rink. It needs some work - machine grinding, and shoveling. Shouldn't be more than a few hours to fix.
