Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #2 (blue), #2 (from #40 to #1), #33, #40, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: blue extra v40

I decided to check out P12 based on Wednesday's report. Clearly, conditions had deteriorated! Air temp was -10C at the start and -7C on return to P12. It was a beautiful sunny day. Trail 40 was in poor shape heading up from P12, marginally better after the junction with 2 and again a bit better after the junction with 38. Non-skier imprints were pervasive and rocks were frequently lurking just below the snow surface. Trail 33 was a significant improvement, apart from the hazard across the track half way between 40 and 2. Trail 2 was tough to negotiate heading down to Western Shelter, with frozen snowmobile tracks and marginal classic tracks alongside. Return via 2 was good until the steep descent from the ridge. The trip down was an intermittent combination of side-stepping and skiing, then walking / skiing along 40 to P12. Recommend sticking to the parkways!
