Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #55 (green - shared), Glide Wax: Swix purple, Grip Wax:

As reported to me by Garry Tarr: "I skate skied from P16 along trail 50 starting around 10AM. 50 from P16 to the gate at Lac Philip was hard, icy and not very pleasant. There were numerous patches of debris from pine trees, thick enough to catch and stall a ski. There were also sections where bumps left by the groomer were frozen into the trail. I could only rate it as fair. Amazingly, as soon as I passed the Lac Philip gate conditions were superb. There was soft snow, fresh grooming, and not even any snowmobile ruts. The excellent conditions extended all the way to P19. Green 55 to Taylor Lake was hard and icy, just like the section between P16 and Lac Philip. On my way back to P16 I took a detour down 36 to Meech Lake, and found thick soft powder with tracks skied in. The ungroomed section of 36 was actually nicer for skate skiing than some of the groomed sections of trail 50."
