Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, #1, #1B, #3, Glide Wax: Blue, Grip Wax: Vauhti Carrot / K15

Beautiful skiing conditions! It really can't get much better. The grooming was day old on Parkways and fresh this morning on Ridge and Burma.

Garry mentioned the effect the overnight weather has on glide the next morning. Cloudy nights tend to be more humid and thus glide is better the next morning. Clear nights result in more moisture loss from the snow and thus more friction and slower glide. It was obvious today when you stepped off the parkway onto Ridge - the freshly groomed sections were much faster. (Unless you had too much structure!)

The only disappointment was the Sun was only out for a few minutes, otherwise it was just another in a long string of best skiing days of the year.

Gatineau Park is ski paradise! The network of ski trails offer machine groomed skate skiing and classic skiing as well as little groomed backcountry trails. Multiple access points allow skiers to access a variety of terrain and scenery. The NCC offers season or daily pay rates.
