P5 - Mulvihill - Pink
Such a yoyo of a weekend! Yesterday it rained, and rained, and rained. At some point there was a tiny amount of freezing rain, but in Chelsea and in the park predominantly ice pellets and snow fell. The park gates were closed yesterday because of ? Rain? Really? They remained closed this morning because of the "danger" from branches which might have been ice covered (but weren't). In fact, the conditions this morning were so ideal for skate skiing that Garry skied up and down our road before it was plowed. In any case the park did eventually open, and the upper parkways were groomed. We finally made it out around 2:30. It was the best skate skiing conditions of the season, even better than on Friday! Fast, controllable and beautiful! Interestingly the ungroomed area below Mica was also excellent. By the time we finished, P5 was almost full and the parkways were buzzing with skiers making up for lost time.
