Kanata Nordic

Trails Skied: 1, 2, 2, 6, 8, 12, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Conditions are pretty good on the campground trails, I'd say they are as good as the equestrian sector, with the exception that there has been a lot of pedestrian traffic on the campground trails. Almost all the trails I skied today with the exception of trail 10 had had multiple pedestrians on it, with trail 12 and the south end of trail 1 (where a large school group had been) heavily trampled. Snow conditions were good enough that even with all the foot traffic, skiing was pretty good and not so uneven that it was dangerous. There is minimal debris. Still some spots where rocks are poking through, and weeds in some spots too. The hills were okay, the surface disruption from foot traffic made control a little challenging in places. I saw a porcupine at the intersection of 12a and 10.

Kanata Nordic

Kanata Nordic ski club is a volunteer-run club dedicated to promoting lifelong activity, fitness and enjoyment of the outdoors through a variety of cross-country ski programs and activities offered in a friendly club setting. Established in 1979, Kanata Nordic now calls Wesley Clover Parks home with a growing trail-network for all skiers to enjoy. The club is a member of Cross Country Ontario (CCO) and Cross Country Canada (CCC).

The club grooms and maintains approx. 18km of trails at 401 Corkstown Road.

Trails are groomed 5 times per week by volunteer groomers. Tracksetting occurs after each significant snowfall and just prior to Saturday lessons (usually January through March). Trail conditions will vary depending on snowfall and snow conditions. Access to the club trails requires a membership or day-pass.
