Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #54 (green), #55 (green - shared), Glide Wax: blue, Grip Wax:

I chose to skate ski out of P19 today. A bustling spot as groups of skiers were loading up and heading into the huts for overnights but I've seen it busier. Perhaps the overcast day kept some people home. The upper parking lot was barely full. The kilometer drive in from St Cecile was an icy, rutted, fright but once I got to the parking lot there was lots of sand down so no trouble walking around.

On track it was freshly groomed and there was a nice layer of crushed up snow on top of a hard base. Lots of work to convert last weeks rain and quick freeze. Made for fast skiing. I skied the three "spokes" of the campground - Lusk, Taylor and down along Phillippe and all were in great shape. A few branches down and signs that a few larger trees came down in Mondays windstorm but they had been cut up and dragged off the trail. Classic tracks were in good shape as well. Skied a little bit of 53 when I got back to the parking lot before circling back and it was in good shape too. Hoping for a little fresh snow tonight to top it off!
