Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #1 Penguin Climb, #6, #19, #34, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Climbed #1 from Penguin and took the flat loop on top - 19-34-6. Forget Trail 19: it has too many water crossings, overhanging bushes, and deep ruts. It is passable but not fun. Trail 34 was fine. There are two fallen trees in the same location that need a chainsaw. The flat side of 6 was much better than #19, despite being parallel, probably because it is a bit wider. There are a couple of water crossings to avoid. At this time of year, you cannot step out of the tracks safely to slough off speed - the surroundings are too bony. We need more snow to make it really pleasant.

The descent on Penguin hill was an excellent time to lay tracks. Conditions there were superb.
