Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #51, #54 (green), #55 (green - shared), #55 (green - alternative), #55 (blue - alternative), Glide Wax: Swix LF violet, Grip Wax: VR40

An invigorating, mid winter ski and for me, the first one in a very long time on waxed classic skis! Skin skis are all very well but there is nothing like old-fashioned classic skiing! It was a great treat to finally make it to Lusk Lake, The recent snow and fresh grooming were perfect but oddly the hills all seemed to have shrunk - perhaps because of the wonderful conditions. Tracks were firm, no ice whatsoever, just perfection. The descent down from Lusk was fun, but the climb to Taylor Lake involved a surprisingly cold headwind! It was a relief to head into the sunny, sheltered forest. Trail 55 blue, and 51 were both in top condition, although again the hills seemed to have shrunk. What a gift to have these trails back in operation! A memorable, beautiful ski day!
