Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, #1 Penguin Climb, #1, Champlain Pkwy, #3, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

It's a beautiful day for a ski. I know wax choice is probably more important, but I would rather report that I wore a ball cap, one light layer with a vest on top and a thin pair of tights on the bottom. More like April skiing clothing than mid-February.

Skate skied from P10 to Burma, Ridge, Lookout then parkway to Gatineau Parkway, up Penguin, Ridge to Gossip corner then back down to P10.

Karl said it was hard and icy on the race trails.

I would say that if I had roller skis, I could probably have used them instead.

Everywhere needs another churning to soften things up a bit, but aside from being ultra hard packed, I found the trails to be in very good shape.

Burma is now as wide as I've ever seen it, and with a fresh coat of powder and some grooming, it will be awesome fun, the way it was meant to be.

Penguin is actually very good going up--wide and firm but not icy. I found it pretty fast and, dare I say, more manageable than usual.
