Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #24, #40, #1 (blue), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: Swix V20

Nice classic skiing conditions today. With the cold temperatures, the trees set against a sunny sky were stunning. Most enjoyable scenery. I saw a lot more classic skiers than skate skiers today.
I went from P12 towards McKinstry (turned around 2K before the cabin for lack of time). All I had for grip wax for cold conditions was V20. I got good grip all the way up.
There was fresh track setting on #40 and #24 and snow was compacted in the middle. #1 was in great shape both for classic and skate for the most part. On the way up towards McKinstry (close to first intersection with snowshoe trail 62), I saw a small rock in the middle of the skating lane. It was partly covered in snow and you could easily have mistaken it for debris. I didn't check every dark spot I saw. But you might want to watch out for small rocks in that area. On the climb towards 62, Demsis created a ridge right in the middle of the skating lane, leaving more snow on one side than the other. Not too much of a problem but it could become one with all the snowplowing. After intersection with 62, there were snowshoe tracks right in the middle of the skating lane. It wasn't too much of a problem. #40 felt a bit bumpy on the way down (not quite level) but enjoyable nonetheless.
Overall a very enjoyable ski.
