Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, Glide Wax: Dibloc blue LF over graphite, Grip Wax: Swic green

Cool air, warm sun, new “green-wax” snow - a classic day - as good as it gets. Went from P16 via #50 to the end of Lac Philippe. The classic tracks on #50 were good all the way; from P16 to the intersection with #52 the skate track was narrow and uneven with two ridges separated by a groove - after #52 it improved considerably with a wide flat track. #36 was trackset and looked quite good - a potential option for tomorrow. However, the tracksetting on #52 looked even better and told me that tomorrow there will be only one option - the P17 Wakefield triangle. There were both uphill and downhill ski-tracks on #54 so there’s nothing to prevent the real skiers from immersing their gaiters in real snow.

On the way back Harrington Lake/Lac Mousseau looked especially beautiful: the ridge on the south side was frosted and with the sun on it the scene made an eloquent argument why it's much better spending winter days XC-skiing rather than at bingo.
