Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, Glide Wax: vauhti purple, Grip Wax:

After couple of days skiing in the southern end of the park I decided to venture north to the lac Phillipe gate to see how things were up there. Snow conditions were much the same as elsewhere and obviously will be very different tomorrow morning... but I did want to report on trail 50. It had been planned to detour trail 50 around the construction work at the washed out culvert so I was curious to see how things were progressing. When I got there I was pleased to see crews had gotten good advantage of the warm fall we had. Heavy machinery was all gone and in its place construction fencing has gone up around the edges. Its clear there is more work to be done in the spring but for now a 20ft lane has been left (with a slight swale) to permit the ski lane to pass as before. All the "trail 50 detour" signs which I saw earlier in the fall have been removed so it looks like it will be business as usual for those skiing the length of Pine road this year.

Heavy snow started to fall as I drove away so looks like a good powder day tomorrow!
