Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, #1, #1 (green) (#2 - #24), #1 (blue), Glide Wax: Swix LF10, Grip Wax:

Another great day quite similar to yesterday. I skated from P10 via FP and CP to Huron and then to #24 back to #1 to my favourite spring-skiing pond. Went up on icy conditions and came back down on fast corn, slow snow, and running water.

There is surprisingly little deterioration in the conditions. The portage at the bench is now about 30'; the bare spots on Ridge are bigger but still not a problem. Skiing is still eminently doable all the way to the tower if you wish.

#24 has a good snow base although it’s slower than the corn on #1. According to a couple of classic skiers there’s still enough snow on #40 to last a good while.

Tomorrow should still be great. It might be a good idea to start early to get the faster conditions.

I’ve attacked a picture of the Golden Ragworts that are blooming on #1 just before #24 - spring-skiing, spring-flowers.
