"Groomers? We don't got no groomers?! We don't need no stinkin' groomers!!" (with apologies to John Huston)

After skiing most of the week out of P10 I went a little higher in the park to P16 and skied along the Pine road. Apart from the first climb out of the parking lot the skiing was excellent. A little slushy in the direct sun and a little icy in the shade but flat and smooth and generally fast skiing. AThe surface is starting to get a little dirty but overall not too bad. The bridge at the start has no snow and that first climb was a bit icy (nicely corned up/slushy on my return trip) but once you hit the treeline the snow is fine. Only one thin spot by the little bridge about 1 km from Herridge but I was still able to ski over it (although one short stretch was fading fast on my return trip). From there out to Lac Phillippe was good coverage with the classic tracks showing little gravel patches as you approach the lake. Overall an excellent day out to ski but just a little too windy to sit by the lake and enjoy the sunshine (oh the hardships).

Too bad there were so many people at P10. Other than the ski team (out for another epic ski?) I saw only a few people skiing and for the most part everyone had big smiles on their faces. Certainly agree that Demsis could have earned a little more good will by ending grooming after Sunday (Friday? Really? What's up with that?)... but good skiing can be had if you look in the right places and time your trip.
