Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: Teho Green plus wax of the day

Conditions were lovely for classic and fabulous for skating. (If I had been skating I would have rated the outing with 5 stars.) The classic tracks were generally very good, just occasionally turning to glare ice or dirt, thanks to our thaw the other week. It did mean you had to keep an eye out on all the descents.

What was most amazing today (beside the conditions and the weather) was to see the amount of snow that is still on the trails. There may be only 3 cm of snow at a particular spot near P8 (see Gatineau Park website) but there are feet of snow on much of trail 50.

The north shore of Lac Philippe was in mid Winter condition, only occasional icy patches.

Garry skied further and reported that the snow on trail 55 Green looked "pretty horrible" - barely covered, icy. (He chose not to ski on it).
