There is amazing, flat out AMAZING SPRING SKIING in Gatineau Park right now. Skied the "loop around the park" starting at Asticou, skiing on the parkways and number 1 out to mckinstry, cutting through the bush on old trail 10 to Lac Lusk, then skiing from P19 to Wakefield, then back to Meech Lake, on Meech Lake to P11, up the Fortune Parkway and back to Asticou via Ridge Road and the parkways. We pretty much covered everything there is to offer in the park, and right now you can still ski from anywhere! the lower parts of the park are icier and it is difficult to find wax that works. Once you get to the main loop of the parkways and higher elevations the skiing and grooming are superb as of the 26th of March. The lake skiing is also good. If you find yourself near Meech Lake or Lac Philippe, take a turn on the crusty snow covering the ice, as it is fast, smooth and beautiful. As long as the temperature keeps falling below zero at nights, the skiing in the mornings this week and likely next continue to be pretty special.
