Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: North Loop, Glide Wax: Summer Wax - Start Red ?, Grip Wax: Klister ? bas3 with Vauhti tar and Swix V30 blue

Did a family ski on the North Loop. Used the opportunity to test out a pair of old soft classics that I plan to use for a back-country ski. The wax was largely a function of their most recent function with a bit of tar and Swix blue added on top of a thin klister base Surprisingly the combination worked quite well.

As Éric reported this AM there is no grooming anywhere. The 11 cm of snowfall has compacted down to 5-7 cm. The best news is that the new snow is sticking to the ice below. With the low temperatures predicted for tonight the new snow should crystallize into something great - powder or sugar. Already at noon there were places where the snow was beginning to change into something faster. The classic tracks were skier-tracked on top of the previous tracks and were not great but not that bad. Skating appeared to be a real slog and is not recommended unless you’re looking for exercise.
