Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy , North Loop, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: CH8, Grip Wax:

Did a couple of skate passes of the Doldrums, then headed up the Gatineau Pkwy to Mica. There was good, fresh machine grooming everywhere. The Doldrums were a bit crunchy and had seen a fair bit of skier traffic, but were still enjoyable. Between P8 and P5 the corduroy had hardly seen any skaters. It was hard and very fast. Between P5 and Kingsmere the snow changed, with maybe 2cm of fresh dry powder over a very level hard base. I'd say the best skiing was in the vicinity of Kingsmere. I turned around at Kingsmere, but conditions were likely even better higher up. Generally the snow was drier on the crests of the big hills, and "crunchier" at the base were water had pooled yesterday. I hardly saw any skiers once I left the Doldrums.

I highly recommend getting out for a ski this afternoon (remember there will be light far into the evening with Daylight Savings Time). Conditions are really quite good.
