Did a couple of skate passes of the Doldrums. Skating was surprisingly fast, despite the wet conditions (massive rilling of the bases probably helped). The main problem was the bumpy surface- there was no sign of recent grooming. With some machine smoothing of the surface, conditions would probably have been very good. I suspect tomorrow afternoon will bring similar conditions. It is definitely worthwhile to get out and ski (beats running in the slush and dirt on the side of the road).
