Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Champlain Pkwy, #1, #1B, #4, #14, Camp Fortune Race Course, Glide Wax: Vauhti blue, Grip Wax:

Out for a skate this evening. Sun didn't set until almost 6! Skied out Ridge road, made a short detour down to Camp Fortune and skied the race trails before climbing back up to Ridge and sking out to the lookouts with the short 1 - 1B loop beyond. Trails were in great shape tonight. Hard packed and fast easy skating. A couple of rocks are exposed between Huron and the lookouts but they aren't too tough to avoid. Steep descents are a little icy but manageable. Ran into a groomer(not literally) at 7pm working his way along Ridge road at Fortune Lane so the track was a little soft for me beyond that point but should be nice tomorrow morning.

The race trails have been renovated since the big thaw and are good fun. Looks like there are some Biathalon events going on there this weekend(starting grid and lots of trail markers) but no one was about when I was there. They only seem to be using loops close to Chalet des Erables but the rest of the loop is in good shape. There's even a classic track cut on one side. Its a little rough but serviceable. Probably a challenge to cut it into the icy base

Mondays predicted thaw is now looking less and less severe as it approaches so fingers crossed it brings snow instead of rain once it arrives.
