Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #36 (blue), Glide Wax: Swix LF7, Grip Wax: Vauhti -1 to -6 tar and Vaugti carrot

Had an easy classic day from P11 to Herridge and back via #36 & #50. Conditions were reasonably good with 2 cm of new snow on top of recent tracksetting. The skating track on #50 was flat (without ridges) and would have given good skating conditions. The only difficult spot was the steep downhill on #36 from the cutoff to Carbide Wilson down to the bay - it was a rock garden with many rocks showing - managed to hit three of them. The patrol has marked the spot at the top with hanging bannerguard.

The real objective today, however, was to test the advice of the armchair waxer regarding grip wax. The -1 to -6 Vauhti tar with the Vauhti carrot worked quite well with the -10 C snow in spite of the fact that armchair guy was recommending for warmer conditions. His reputation is still intact.
