Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, North Loop, #1, #3, Glide Wax: CH6, Grip Wax:

Skated from P8 across the Doldrums then up the Fortune Parkway to Ridge Road. Skied Ridge Road from the top of Penguin to the valley lookout between the #24 intersections, then returned via Burma. I found quite deep fresh powder, which made for slow (although very controllable) skiing. The powder was quite deep on Fortune, making the hill climb a slog, but not so deep on the Doldrums and Ridge Road, where skating was much faster. Ridge is now reasonably level- the "crown" isn't noticeable in most places. 1B has complete coverage. Burma did not appear to have been groomed recently, and was like a backcountry trail with an ill-defined, skier-set classic track. Burma had some pretty good bumps and dips, but was very enjoyable. The final luge run to the Fortune Parkway still had lots of fresh powder, and so was controllable. Overall a great (although) tiring day to be out. What tomorrow morning will bring depends very much on whether there is grooming tonight.
