Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #51, #53, #55 (green - shared), #55 (green - alternative), #55 (blue - alternative), Glide Wax: Swix LF7, Grip Wax: Vauhti carrot

Skied classic from P17 -> #53 -> #51 -> P19 -> #50 -> #55 green classic -> #55 blue -> #55shared -> 50 -> P19 -> #51 -> #53 -> P17. Classic was quite good throughout most of the loop with firm tracks and soft but not mushy snow. The Vauhti carrot worked quite well throughout the day - but why not - it is the Year-of-the-Rabbit eh!. The only difficult part was on #55 blue - it’s uneven, bumpy, with bare spots and soft sides - I don’t recommend it, particularly in the downhill direction.

I’m glad that I went classic - skating would have been painful. Both #50 and #55 had the Demsis ridge and in places a gully was added - in places the gully and ridge would disappear and there would be a good flat track but it would only last for about 100 m. I met some friends about 2 km from P19 - they were already discouraged from fighting the ridge.
