Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #30, #8, #17, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Too nice an afternoon to be working!!!! Started out from P7, up #30 and that snow did a lot of good for Penguin hill, how long it stays like that who knows probably a few days till the hill gets icy again.

Decided to try out # 17 Frank's towards Keogan lodge. Very good condition did not see any rocks and all ditches were covered. One problem though, like Ken mentioned in his report once I got to the part of the trail that crosses lac Bourgeois I encountered a slushy section on the lake, so had to take one ski off the scrap it off my ski before heading up the final big hill on # 17.

On my way back it was time to try # 8 Highland"'s trail. Watch out the first big hill Wee Drop they call it had a few big rocks towards the top, so I didnt take any chances and side step down the hill a few feet, the rest of the hill and the turn at the bottom was good. I only spotted a few more rocks on the way back up the hill the section that you go up by the parkway but the rocks there were small but right in the middle, trickier if you went down that way.

Everything after that was great, the highland fling part was a blast no rocks and no ditches there. Then as you go by the house near the bottom of the downhill and you start to climb the last part of the trail there is a pretty big icy patch right near the top of the hill, just have to be careful that your skis don't slide off to the side as you finish your climb.

I never seen P7 still full of cars at 3 o'clock, but considering the nice sunny day and snow not surprised!!!!!!
