Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy, Glide Wax: Swix LF7, Grip Wax: n/a

A couple of weeks back, I was told by a park purist that skating was not “real-skiing” - it was just “urban skiing”. Today I only had time for a short ski - in the urban sector of the park - so I wallowed in impurity and skated - from Asticou to the #15 crossing. Conditions were quite good with easy skating. The tracksetting on the GP was quite good - flat skating track and firm classic tracks with a nice 2 cm dusting of snow on top. The urban trails #5, #26, #15, #35 & #29 also appeared to be quite good as well - flat trail, firm classic tracks, with no sign of rocks or gravel. Surprisingly, the parking lot had quite a bit of space. A good choice for urbanites - pure, impure, or whatever.
