Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, Glide Wax: Dibloc blue LF + graphite, Grip Wax: Swix Green

Went classic along #50 from P16 to the T-junction with #55. #50 had been trackset this morning with some variant of tracksetter. It was definitely a classic day in terms of the snow texture and the fact that there were reasonably good tracks all the way - the only problem with the tracks was that there were occasional places where leaves and twigs had been pulled up into the track - had good kick and glide all the way.

The skaters did not get as much of a break: from P16 to Herridge the skating track was uneven and cut up with snowmobile tracks - it would have been quite difficult to maintain a flat ski; between Herridge and the end of Lac Philippe the track improved and was more skatable; between the end of the lake and P19 the track was wide and reasonably flat - there was a ridge but it wasn’t high to be much of a problem.
The best choice, by far, for an enjoyable skate on #50 is to start from P19

#52 has not between trackset recently; however, there are still a good tracks from previous tracksetting and with the recent snow it would probably be quite enjoyable. #55 is much the same with a good base and new snow.
