Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #54 (green), #55 (green - shared), #54 (black), Glide Wax: Vauhti blue, Grip Wax: Extra Blue

Skied out at Lac Phillippe today. Main trails (50 and 55) had been groomed and were in good shape. 50 was presumably groomed all the way to P16 although I only went as far as trail 52. The side trails were still "self serve" but for the most part looked good as many skiers had worked in a good track.

Decided to ski UP 54 black which I figured would be a little thin but doable in the uphill direction. Quite a few rocks and exposed water hazards on the climb up but for the most part was able to ski/step around the tricky spots. Would not recommend a descent of 54 black until we get a LOT more snow. Once up to Lusk lake I thought I was home free with the flatter trail around the lake. Sadly, this only meant I got more speed up before I hit the hidden rocks. I didn't have my best skis with me but neither were they my rock skis....umm, till now. More than a few coarse words were uttered as I skied along and I might have had a little weep (for my bases) once I got out... but rationalized on the drive home that I now have a very nice pair of "hairies" so perhaps all's well that ends well.

Couldn't tell if the green trail up to Lusk lake had been groomed recently. It was very nice but certainly had seen a lot of skier traffic and the classic tracks were a little washed out in spots. That's probably predictable though as Lusk lake on a sunny Sunday is a particularly nice place to visit and probably saw its fair share of skiers today.
