Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, Glide Wax: Blue, Grip Wax:

Fabulous skate weather today (minus 4) and wonderful snow on Pine Road. We had a wonderful ski on our good skis, no worry about rocks. Not to confuse snow and weather with grooming, though: there were some good spots where the skate lane was level and the classic tracks sometimes looked as though a machine might have made them. There were many stretches that had a central ridge - quite irritating for skating - and some of those currently popular shallow classic tracks. The most uniform conditions were between Herridge and Lac Philippe. The two attached photos were taken around 10:30 in the morning, before very many people had begun their Saturday ski.

Trail 36 has been compacted to the lake, but no classic tracks yet.

It's early season yet, so I'm looking forward to soon seeing Pine Road at its best.
