Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy , Gatineau Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: LF 7, Grip Wax:

I skate-skied between Penguin, Mulvihill and the top of Pink. If you like hard, fast conditions it was a perfect morning before the temperature reached zero. Although tilling seems to be a thing of the past, I still had my best skate ski of the season. An interesting fact: I have spotted the same acorn on the skate lane for a few weeks now, in exactly the same spot! The tilling has not removed or buried it. In any case, there were many skiers out enjoying what is likely the final weekend of grooming. We had hoped 8:30 was early enough to ski from P10, but P8 was already filled, and the P9 overflow area was filling up, so we switched to P5, which was close to capacity at 8:45. I've skied in the park since 1994 but have never seen so many skiers at one time!
A beautiful day, let's hope for a few more just like this!
