Trails Skied: SHE FULL, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: Universal klister

Beautiful conditions on the SHE at lunch hour today. Started at Blair, one portage 10m portage under SGEC bridge, then it was great grooming and conditions East to the Aviation Museum and up around the loop and West to end of the path up through the trees and around. I didn't venture further East since I was short on time, but everything I skied had great coverage, was fairly clean and had yet to get really wet.

Tracks were deep, well defined and firm. Skate lane was level and firm, but with enough texture to edge. Hats off to @tracksetfred and the grooming team for a great job catching that at the right time and extending the season!

If you are wondering how long it will last, my guess is that there will be an open spot at the boat launch by Thursday, the loop at Aviation will be thin by Friday, but the path along the river will make it through the weekend.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail

The National Capital Greenbelt has over 100km of trails and another 25km of recreational pathways, most of which are suitable for cross-country skiing in the wintertime. All of the trails are suitable for beginner and family outings. Some are now maintained by volunteer groomers; OWWT, BWT, SHE, Kichi Sibi.

ONSC grooms The Hornet's Nest (Tauvette street to Montreal Rd), Mer Bleue and Pine Grove Forest (the section off Leitrum Rd). Trails are classic skiing ONLY, no skating is allowed on these trails. The Hornet's Nest is groomed at least weekly and the others as time permits. Updated trail conditions are available at the snow phone; 613-837-SNOW.
