Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #1 (green) (#2 - #24), #2 (from #40 to #1), #24, #33, #40, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: blue extra v40

P10 was jammed so went to an almost empty P12. Air temp -5C. Very poor, icy conditions so walked up the first, steep, 50m or so from P12 before putting on the skis. Trail 40 was icy with intermittent debris, but very fast. Trail 33 not much better. Didn't see a soul until I crossed trail 1, where two groups of skate skiers were flying along. Trail down 2 to Western Shelter was again fast, but control easy until near Western (see pic). Return trip was 2-24-40-P12,with the odd exposed dirty bits of track, but generally fast. Grip wax had been rubbed off so had to half-skate to keep progressing in places. Walked down the last 50m to P12,very treacherous. No regrets about classic skiing today, but very envious of the skate skiers who looked like they were having a 5 flake day.
