Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: LF 7, Grip Wax:

What an unusual ski! Grooming was fabulous and at first very fast hard-packed ice flour. Then snow squalls arrived and turbulent wind gusts with it. Conditions were changeable from moment to moment. At times the glide was good, but at times the new powder almost forced the skis to a halt. The wind was unpredictable, grabbing poles and even stopping me briefly on one of the downhills. I was almost wishing I weighed 50 extra pounds! The wind and slow powder was most noticeable on the Champlain Parkway, less so on the upper Gatineau Parkway. I was happy to get some exercise but relieved that no trees came down while I was skiing and that I could head home before the wind reached its peak.
