Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: Vauhti Mid, Grip Wax: Vauhti Orange

Can't believe how much the waxing has been easy this year. In our region, we almost always have some amount of ice in the snow - either because of freezing rain or a relatively recent melt. In fact, I would say that this is somewhat of a distinguishing feature of conditions in Gatineau Park. You almost always benefit from some kind of tacky base wax or base klister. This year has been different - with the snow just staying fresh. Enjoy it while it lasts! Conditions near Kingsmere were a firm base with a dusting of snow on top. This made the tracks a bit slow where they had not been skied in yet, but that will sort itself out with traffic throughout the day.
