Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: CH7, Grip Wax:

This afternoon's ski was a quick exercise run from P5 up the GP to Mica, then up the CP to Mulvihill and back via the same route. Yesterday's sunshine brought out the crowds, but on a windy gray afternoon with snow in the air I didn't have a lot of company on the trails. It seems there is usually no grooming on Tuesday, and today followed that rule. Although temperatures were quite close to freezing, a skiff of very abrasive powder over a very hard base reduced glide. The loose powder was blowing into the classic tracks, making descents in the tracks painfully slow. But I'm complaining too much- it was great to get out for some fresh air, and the skiing was really pretty good.
