Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #55 (green - shared), #55 (green - alternative), Glide Wax: Vauhti glide -2 to -20, Grip Wax: Blue V30

First time at Lac Phillipe since they opened P20 to winter users. Nice to be able to access #55 without 3 kms of parkway skiing. Skied both ends of 55 since a middle section is still not recommended for use. Easy to find that stretch as the classic tracking ended and dirty icey conditions started. The base for both classic and skate is hard and fast. Tracking is at about mid depth. Some sections of classic were dirty and gravelly, but mostly avoidable, except one around a corner on a downhill that scraped up my newer skis. Shoulda used my rock skis. Probably best to use a binder as most of wax wax scrapped off about half way in. Beautiful blue sky day and not too crowded, lotsa room at P20 for parking.

Gatineau Park is ski paradise! The network of ski trails offer machine groomed skate skiing and classic skiing as well as little groomed backcountry trails. Multiple access points allow skiers to access a variety of terrain and scenery. The NCC offers season or daily pay rates.
