Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy , Gatineau Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: Ch8, Grip Wax:

Skate conditions were excellent today on the run from P8 to Mulvihill and back on the GP and CP. There had been so much skier traffic it was hard to tell the parkways had been groomed this morning, but there was enough texture left in the snow for good control. The temperature was just below freezing, so glide was good too, but there was a hint of suction. I used my good skis and didn't regret it. The snow is now compacted enough that poles don't go through to pavement. Classic tracks were generally deep enough, although the base looked a bit glazed.

I was lucky to get a parking spot at P8 at 2:30. Even in the dusk at 4PM the lot was nearly full. I'm guessing most of the skiers parked at P8 were on the North Loop, since my route was a bit busy for a Monday afternoon, but not crowded.
