Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #55 (green - shared), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: VR40

Classic skied from P16 to Taylor Lake and back. Mixed bag of conditions: quite good overall, but always need to watch out for gravel/dirt. Classic generally looked like the better option, with more instances of dirt and gravel in the skate lane. From P16 to Lac Philippe campground was yesterday's grooming, with just one track but still in good shape. Fresh grooming from the campground on, but classic tracks come dangerously close to the ground, better watch out. I can perfectly understand why maintenance crews are going easy on the grooming: the snow is so thin that it would easily expose more rock and gravel on any trail that is not completely flat. Great to be out but unfortunately we need quite a low more snow to feel that the season has really started. I would not use good skis anywhere else than the parkways.
