Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy , Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: old, Grip Wax: something blue

I would have rated the skiing excellent if the grooming had been consistent. On the Gatineau Parkway it was as beautiful as you could ever imagine at any top ski resort. It was still a bit soft at 11:00 and had (I suspect) likely been groomed just shortly before I headed out. However the Champlain Parkway (also similarly marked with a green check mark, as freshly groomed before 8:00 a.m. )had patently not been groomed for classic. The skate lane had been nicely renovated and generally conditions were quite nice. On the return downhill from Black Lake and also on the downhill back to the Mica intersection, the classic tracks were very shallow and "blown out" completely for a small stretch. The tracks were generally quite slow where covered with fresh snow. All in all, though, it was a fabulous day to be out skiing!
