Green Belt

Trails Skied: 63, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Skied Larose Forest from P1 to Concession 9 and back. P1 was packed with skiers, fatbikers and dog sledders. Scenery in the forest was beautiful, but unfortunately I have not been able to post photos on this site since I got a new phone because of the file size limit. Classic trail from P1 to the shared classic/skate trail from P7 was groomed on Friday, as was the entire shared trail from P7, and these trails were in great shape. The north classic tracks were not groomed - it was OK with my back-country skis in the skier-made tracks but the deep snow and fallen/overhanging branches made it a bit of a slog at times. Hoping they can get this trail cleaned up for next week.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail

The National Capital Greenbelt has over 100km of trails and another 25km of recreational pathways, most of which are suitable for cross-country skiing in the wintertime. All of the trails are suitable for beginner and family outings. Some are now maintained by volunteer groomers; OWWT, BWT, SHE, Kichi Sibi.

ONSC grooms The Hornet's Nest (Tauvette street to Montreal Rd), Mer Bleue and Pine Grove Forest (the section off Leitrum Rd). Trails are classic skiing ONLY, no skating is allowed on these trails. The Hornet's Nest is groomed at least weekly and the others as time permits. Updated trail conditions are available at the snow phone; 613-837-SNOW.
