Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, #1, #1B, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: CH7, Grip Wax:

This morning I skated from P10 up the FLP to Ridge Road, turned west to the 1B intersection, took 1B back to 1A, connected to the CP, then followed the CP to near Black Lake before returning down the FLP. The parkways had been freshly and expertly groomed, providing really good skate conditions- fast but with excellent control. Anyone seeking fresh corduroy for technique practice should try the CP between Mulvihill and the FLP. None of the other trails had been freshly groomed. 1B was very lumpy, and not a lot of fun to skate. Skier traffic had taken care of the lumps on 1A and 1, but there were still a few minor icy patches where water had dripped from overhanging pine trees yesterday afternoon. The Khyber Pass had a good snowy surface with no noticeable ice. There were lots of skiers out on the FLP and Ridge Road. As usual P10 was overflowing at noon. The great skiing continues, grab it while you can.
