Green Belt

Trails Skied: 10, Glide Wax: universal, Grip Wax: green

This report covers the Larose Forest XC ski trails from P1 on Indian Creek Road. Arrived at P1 and no classic grooming only flat compacted snow. My fault, took a chance even though no recent grooming reports on Facebook. As I was putting on my skis anyway, heard the roar of an engine coming out of the forest and it was the groomer laying new tracks and corduroy, yay! Tracks were a bit soft and slow, but this will definitely improve as things firm up over the next few days. Spoke to the groomer guy and he said the entire network is being done today.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail

The National Capital Greenbelt has over 100km of trails and another 25km of recreational pathways, most of which are suitable for cross-country skiing in the wintertime. All of the trails are suitable for beginner and family outings. Some are now maintained by volunteer groomers; OWWT, BWT, SHE, Kichi Sibi.

ONSC grooms The Hornet's Nest (Tauvette street to Montreal Rd), Mer Bleue and Pine Grove Forest (the section off Leitrum Rd). Trails are classic skiing ONLY, no skating is allowed on these trails. The Hornet's Nest is groomed at least weekly and the others as time permits. Updated trail conditions are available at the snow phone; 613-837-SNOW.
