Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, #5 (green), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: VR40

An early, fairly long classic ski. The sun was still rising as I drove to Asticou. What a beautiful start to the day! Everything was freshly groomed after yesterday's dusting of snow but the trails were varied in quality. The tracks on #5 were frozen, with ice chunks and holes, and usable if rather unpleasant. The parkway was really lovely, beautifully tilled and easier for grip. Above Mica it was icier than below, but miraculously my wax held. I think the difference in the track quality was mainly in the timing, as all these areas had received a cm or two of snow yesterday after the mild weather. By the time I finished skiing the trails were alive with skiers. A great day!
