Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: , Glide Wax: Blue, Grip Wax: Blue

Wear eye protection, there are eye level branches on most of these trails! See the photos: 1, 2

Gatineau Parkway at P5: nicely groomed

Ridge from Fortune to Penguin Hill: groomed by 8:10 (I remember this clearly because as  they passed us and we had to wait in the deep snow of the ditch at the base of Penguin. It was interesting trying to climb out!  )

Ridge from Fortune to Huron: somewhat groomed, but missing some classic tracks here and there, and the tracks for both skating and classic were often blown over. They did not look fresh.

#2 down to Western: well groomed, even had a classic track, somewhat windblown.

1B: there was a back country single track, no grooming whatsoever.   Very picturesque.

#1 from Western cutoff  : a large tree was blocking Ridge Road at the intersection, and there was no grooming whatsoever of any kind. Trail 24 was not groomed either.

Burma: large fallen trees and ski jumps had been removed and a snowmobile had passed through (is this the thing they call "grooming"?).  It was very beautiful, not at all boring and many people were skiing on the trail in both directions.  The last hill descending to the parkway was pretty narrow and full of icy chunks.

Gatineau Park is ski paradise! The network of ski trails offer machine groomed skate skiing and classic skiing as well as little groomed backcountry trails. Multiple access points allow skiers to access a variety of terrain and scenery. The NCC offers season or daily pay rates.
