Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: North Loop, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: Skin Skis

Quite the contrast to my last ski! The trail was hard and fast, after yesterday's warm weather, and there was no grooming. The skin skis sort of worked, but it was too icy for them to perform well. The skate ski lane was reminiscent of cold styrofoam. For a moment it seemed the sun was going to appear, which would have helped the conditions, but the clouds reappeared. Considering the fact that the parking lot was almost full by 8:30 I was surprised that no grooming was done. All in all, since we have season's passes, we were glad to get some exercise and fresh air, but we would have enjoyed the outing more if we had started later when temperatures were a bit warmer- although parking would have been impossible. It would not have been worth a drive to the park and the cost of a day's pass.

Gatineau Park is ski paradise! The network of ski trails offer machine groomed skate skiing and classic skiing as well as little groomed backcountry trails. Multiple access points allow skiers to access a variety of terrain and scenery. The NCC offers season or daily pay rates.
